Chapter 30. His Regret
Lorry sounded surprised on the phone, “Boss! You’re still up? Is it insomnia? Is it because you are thinking about me…? Do you want me to sing you a lullaby?”
Lorry cleared his throat, getting ready to sing a lullaby for Long Sihao. However, on the other end, anger flashed across Long Sihao’s narrowed eyes. “Before sunrise,” he spoke in a cold voice, “make someone named Quan in the Qing Qing bar disappear from K city.”
He sounded like the Devil from Hell, looking as if he would destroy the universe.
Lorry got serious over the phone as he replied, “Don’t worry Boss, I’ll make sure that happens.”
Li Xiaoman stared blankly at the closed bedroom door. How did he know that I cried?
She stood up and threw herself onto the soft bed, feeling fatigued.
Under the effects of alcohol, her head was dizzy and her body burned up around midnight. Feeling the dryness in her mouth, she yelled for water in her sleep.
The bedroom door opened, and a tall figure walked in.
It was Long Sihao; he held a glass of water in his hand and walked straight towards the bed. He turned on the bedside lamp and saw that Li Xiaoman was in discomfort; her eyebrows pinched tightly together, and her lips were dried up. He placed a hand on her forehead, finding that it was burning hot.
Long Sihao’s brows pinched together as he raised her head up with one hand and fed water to her gently. Once he finished, he called and asked the concierge for medicine.
He held her up and fed her the medicine. Just when he was about to leave, she reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist, murmuring, “Don’t leave me… Don’t leave…”
Long Sihao’s body stiffened and he sat back down. Pity and regret flashed in his eyes as he looked at her deeply. “Xiaoxiao, I’m sorry I came back too late. If I knew you were this unhappy being married to him, I would’ve taken you away a year ago.”
He was struck by a wave of regret when she saw her agony, knowing that he should have taken her away on the wedding a year ago.
Li Xiaoman was restless for the entire night, and Long Sihao took care of her carefully.
When Li Xiaoman woke up, it was already 3 PM.
She squinted her eyes as she looked around her and sat up instantly when she noticed that it was an unfamiliar room. She patted her head lightly as scenes from last night started to replay like a movie in her head.
She was sober now compared to last night, and her face blushed as she recalled herself dragging Long Sihao to the hotel.
Why did she lose control of herself after getting drunk? He was Huo Yunxi’s older brother and she had unbuttoned his shirt! She was struck by embarrassment when she thought about it.
“You’re awake?” A deep voice asked as the bedroom door opened.
Li Xiaoman looked up and met Long Sihao’s eyes. “Yeah,” she replied as she looked down; her heart had skipped a beat at the sight of him.
Long Sihao walked closer towards her.
Li Xiaoman’s eyelashes were fluttering like butterfly wings and her gaze fell upon his long legs as he walked closer. Her heart started to race as he approached her.
Long Sihao stopped before her and she could smell his light cologne. She was about to move back when his warm hand touched her forehead.
She froze and stared at him with wariness in her eyes. “What… What are you doing?”
