Fang Jie got up earlier like always, then he took a cold shower and left Gold-Sharing Duke’s residence.

He didn’t sleep in the Martial Arts Academy for one simple reason; it was hard for men to be alone at night after being with women.

Plus, Chen Qingshan was an enchanting woman.

Fang Jie’s physique was something that he was proud of; most of the men in Great Sui would be jealous of him.

Also, his stinginess contributed to why he was willing to travel for more than 10 kilometers back to Gold-Sharing Duke’s residence instead of partying outside.

When he got to the door, Fang Jie saw a luxurious horse-drawn carriage coming over; he recognized that it belonged to Royal King Yi.

Qin Liuqi, Royal King Yi’s butler, got off the horse-drawn carriage and bowed toward Fang Jie with a smile and said, “Greetings, Mr. Fang.”

Fang Jie returned the gesture and replied, “Butler Qin, what brings you here today? I ran into an important figure on my way out; my luck must be good, and I should go to the gambling houses.”

Qin Liuqi laughed and said, “I’m not an important figure. His Highness learned that you have been going to the Martial Arts Academy to training every day, so he asked me to come here early just in case you leave early. Yesterday, the merchants of Eastern Chu came into Chang’an with a bunch of outlanders’ items, and many pieces were given to His Highness. Although these items aren’t precious, they are novel and interesting. That is why His Highness asked me to invite you over to have a look.”

“Outlanders’ items?” Fang Jie suddenly realized that toward the east of Great Sui, there was a massive ocean. It was heard that nations that had completely different cultures existed on the other side of this ocean.

On Earth, Fang Jie was used to referring to those who had completely different cultures as Westerners, but it seemed like these people were to the east in this world.

“Yeah,” Qin Liuqi laughed, “Some of these small items are delicately made. There is something called a clock, and a mechanical bird would appear and chirp occasionally. However, since how we record time is different, this thing can only be used as a decoration.”

Fang Jie thought to himself, “I have seen many such things in my previous life.”

“His Highness is inviting me; how can I not go? Please give me a few minutes; I need to inform my friends first.”

Fang Jie turned around and returned to his room.

Chen Qingshan wasn’t up yet, and the quilt seemed a little messy. Her shoulders and legs were exposed outside, and her long hair blocked half of her face. Somehow, she had a unique kind of lazy beauty.

Fang Jie smiled and covered her with the quilt.

“I’m going to Royal King Yi’s residence, and perhaps I will be back late,” he said as he gently caressed Chen Qingshan’s smooth long hair.

Chen Qingshan who had her eyes closed nodded and hugged onto Fang Jie like an octopus. She placed her head on Fang Jie’s chest, and her own chest rubbed on his.

Fang Jie smiled bitterly and said, “If you do this, don’t blame me for going overboard.”

The sleepy Chen Qingshan murmured, “Sure, I don’t mind.”

Fang Jie could only place her back onto the bed and said, “Although Royal King Yi’s residence might not have secrets, I can’t let this opportunity go. There is an old elm tree outside the eastern wall of that residence. You and Da Quan can wait there with a horse-drawn carriage at night. If I find anything useful, I will throw it out there.”

“Too dangerous!” Chen Qingshan opened her eyes and said to Fang Jie seriously, “Yang Yin doesn’t completely trust you yet; you can’t make a move so early.”
