Chapter 268: Assassination (Part One)
The girls of these song and dance ensembles showed their best through dances. They knew today was the big day, and they wanted to showcase themselves in hopes of marrying into an affluent family, not having to worry about anything for the rest of their lives. They wanted to attract the attention of those big figures, especially those gongzi who were young but rich.
However, these girls didn’t know that today wasn’t the beginning of their fortunate but nightmare.
After getting the message from Little Dot, Fang Jie tried to get onto the command stage but was stopped.
Clearly, the people guarding the command stage was instructed not to let anyone through.
Fang Jie guessed that all the guards on the command stage were under Su Buwei. After the Royal Guard lost the Emperor’s trust, Su Buwei became more important. Fang Jie believed that soon in the future, Su Buwei was going to replace Hou Wenji in the current structure.
Su Buwei saw Fang Jie and whispered to the Emperor, and the Emperor nodded but didn’t look at Fang Jie.
Su Buwei backed off for a few steps before walking to this side of the command stage. He stood on the stage while Fang Jie was below it. Although it wasn’t far between them, Fang Jie couldn’t whisper to Su Buwei.
“What is it?” Su Buwei asked.
Fang Jie frowned and only write a few words in mid-air.
Su Buwei’s expression didn’t change after seeing this, and he only nodded and said to Fang Jie, “I got it. His Majesty said that you can just watch the show; he will call you when he needs you.”
After saying that, Su Buwei turned around and walked away.
Fang Jie was surprised and wondered, “What is this reaction?”
He was a little angry and walked away as well. He warned Su Buwei, but the latter was indifferent toward him.
Fang Jie walked away from the command stage and found Chen Qingshan and Mu Xiaoyao, and he whispered to them, “If some people attack the command stage, let’s not move and just watch.”
Chen Qingshan and Mu Xiaoyao didn’t know what happened, but they nodded.
Then, Fang Jie walked to the back of the command stage with Chen Qingshan and Mu Xiaoyao, and they watched the people of Beckon of the Red Sleeve.
All other song and dance ensembles were done with their performances. As the final performance, Beckon of the Red Sleeve attracted a ton of attention. Even those big figures on the command stage looked over. Perhaps the performances had distracted them from their worries, or they were pretending to be calm.
Under everyone’s anticipation, the girls of Beckon of the Red Sleeve walked onto the stage, and everyone gasped.
This wasn’t exactly a dance performance.
Beckon of the Red Sleeve played a song that no one heard of before; it had a fast melody.
In high heels, the girls walked onto the stage in short dresses that no one in this world saw before. They didn’t make many movements; they only walked around the stage charmingly.
“What are these clothes?”
“Are they from the outlanders?”
“Who knows? Such short dresses! So vulgar! However… They do look nice…”
“Wow! It is so shameful to wear such clothes; those dresses are way too short! I blush just thinking about them! Sisters, look at how these men are staring straight at them!”
“These dresses are pretty.”
People started to chatter among themselves.
